Candle Care & Wick Trimming

~Trim the wick to ¼” before lighting every time!  This makes all the difference in your candle's longevity and clean burning. A long wick burns too hot and will use the candle more quickly and create soot.  Grab a wick trimmer, or use nail clippers to get a close cut!

~Burn your candle for up to 3-4 hours at a time.  It’s very important that the first time you use the candle, burn it long enough for the melted wax to reach the edges of the container.  This prevents the wax from building up and possibly tunneling during future use.

~Never leave a candle burning unattended or near drafts, pets, or small children.

~If the flame seems high or the container is too hot burning, extinguish it, let it cool down, trim the wick and restart!

If you do not keep your wick trimmed, problems can occur. Wicks of all candles can "mushroom" at the top, leading to excessive flickering, smoke, and/or soot. Keeping your wick trimmed also makes your candle safer and last longer. Additionally, it can prevent your wick from curling back into the wax - which is mainly a problem with non-cored wicks.

Scent Notes?

A candle has three notes, a top note, a middle note, and a base note.  The top note is the first scent you notice when the candle first burns or when you smell it when it is unlit.

The middle notes, also called heart notes, are the scent results after the top note has faded a little.  This scent you experience consists of the middle notes of the candle story.

Finally, the base note, which are the scents that reveal itself as the candle is lit and burning at a full melt pool (the top layer is melted).  It can take up to an hour or so for this to occur.  So what is the true and actual scent of the candle?  That would be the mix of the middle notes and base notes.

Burn Times

10-13oz candles will last around ~70-90+ hours and are well suited for larger, open areas in your home or studio.

8-9oz candles will last~ 50-60+ hours and are well suited for small-medium sized areas in your home or studio.

5-7oz will last ~ 25-40+ hours and are great for bathrooms, bedside tables, and smaller, cozy spots in your home.

My 1 oz. Mini Candles will last 10+ hours and are great for bathrooms.

Times all depends on your environment and candle care.

What kind of Wax do I use?

I use multiple kinds of wax depending on the item, which will be listed on each product page. However, most products are comprised of soy blends and coconut blends.

What kind of Wicks do I use?

I use multiple kinds of wicks depending on the item.
These include cotton core wicks, flat braids, and threaded cotton wicks. All wick types have various purposes and benefits ranging from rigidity to keep the wick centered to soot and smoke-resistant properties. I do not use ANY lead wicks. Lead wicks have also been banned in the U.S. for many years now.
